subject says it all...
If you had 10k you had to spend on a vw project car what would you do?
mentioned this idea on another thread so though it might make a good discussion..
seriously tempted on making a nice mk3/4 ish cab based vr6 :)
probably wouldnt do much extra after the engine swap, probably lots of cosmetic stuff.. like a nice paint job (not bright!!), lighting mods.. probably a deep metallic red, with a cream interior.. mmm, plus some nice ice + security.
whats your fantasy? :)
-
its been done already but id love to drop a 1.8 turbo lump in my mk2 golfer!!
then a nice paint finish with an alacantra re trim inside with a corrado dash
-
Mark1 or 2 with a VR6 lump in. 8)
I'd paint it midnight blue/ black and some nice bbs 13s. Light leather interior.
Stick some bad-ass ICE in and away you go.
-
supercharged vr6 with all th chrome treatment and four wheel drive in my mk2. would want it concours tho
-
mk2 golf with RS6 lump and running gear
don't know if it would fit, but if you can get a tvr into a mk1 it must be possible!!
just think of it......... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sorry guys it would have to be a ultra lightweight MK1 with a 2 litre 16v DCOE 45 based engine - Weber alpha kit - Syncro system etc
With some pucker work on the engine u should see the sunny side of 300bhp and get the weight down to around 500kg you'll have a monster !

i'm with sorta with you on this.
personally, i'd probably go with a remapped 1.8T and totally stripped out Mk1.
i reckon you may get the weight down to around 700kg at most, but you would have till have a superb power to weight ratio, which is what counts.
tin

yeah a rear wheel driven, mk1 with 2l 16v with twin 45,s with 13" bbs off a formula 3 car, coilovers, completely stripped out. a little track day nutter ;D
-
;D It would have to be a split screen camper van for me, done in matelic red bottom half n cream top half - I would do the inside out really fancy like stainless fridge n cooker lol would put some very nice chrome wheels on something deepdish I think and have it riding really low ;) then maybe put some ridiculously large engine in it just to make things fun. ;D
-
^ all for 10k?
your having a l... haha
sounds nice.. colour scheme matched my cab one too ;)
-
Got to go with davidhawkins and tin with this, mk1 shell and 4 wheel drive, 4 cylinder engine and turbo. Standard body with tastefull mods, make a awesome sleeper ;D.
Steve.

i wouldnt do much, id drop a 1.8 t engine in it, respray the body, 19s, air suspension to drop it to the ground, thats it really, i like mines simple ;D
-
I'd have a LUPO GTI with a 1.8T 225bhp TT engine in it and a 4wd system...
.... U did say VW and not GOLF project car.
-
Mk2 Rally with a Turbo Lump from a Nissan 300 ;D
Should be good to about 170 ;)
-
I'd buy a Mk2 limited and keep it in mint condition ;D
-

i would buy a rallye but since there getting a bit common on this forum now i might have to go for the g60. the other 5k would go on my cab! 8)
-
vr6 in trusty :D
-
Id get togeather with GolfGal as we share the same taist and use the combined ?20,000 to build a monster street racing Rally ;D
-
sorry if i had ten g's i would have to get a nice v8 chevvy engine and make it supercharged with a wet nos kit and put it into a mark 2 ;D
-
lol way to tear the car in half ;)
-
forgot to mention what brake kit i would have to use.......... a jumbo 777 brake conversion :o
-

LOL you wont need trusty when you hear this plan.
Pick up a VW Ralle for ?5000, Twin turbo the motor, Fit a new straight throught exhaust setup, Lower the car and put it on some 17s, Flush EVERYTHING on the car, Fit a R32 dash with 2 bucket seats and a roll cadge and run a 200BHP shot of N2O ;) Then bore it out some more and replace the pistons for some high forged ones, Then fit a turbo timer and super chip the motor, Then sit back at the 500BHP monster and worry about Traction problems and the ?10,000 over budget we went 8)
-
I'll always want trusty...
We can always mug a few of the other members for their money? I'll get oversewers if u hold him down. Then we'll have the best getaway car ever.....
we'll be the best at inters - will be in pvw and I won#t even have to get em out!! :D
-
I wonder how long before someone gets their hands on the R32 engine?
I'd go old skool Mk1 Golf, clean body, lowered a bit, 4wd, completely uprated brakes, R32 engine, big shot of Nitrous, heavy tuning.
Although, I did have a thought recently about doing something to a very old skool Mk1 Polo. Not many of those about.
What about the other VW engine options:
4.2l V8 petrol or 5l V10 diesel (around 300bhp each) from the Touareg or W12 (6litre, 400bhp ish) from the Phaeton although you'd probably not get those for ?10k
