Title: Newbie!! Just a few questions..
Post by: DJGTi on 04 April 2008, 18:49
Have just picked up my first ever gti (tornado red 06 reg) after years of wanting one and am really happy with it so far but have a couple of questions you more experienced owners may be able to answer.   :undecided:

Firstly, my husband owns an impreza wrx and says he allows his turbo to cool down after each drive before turning off the ignition, does this also apply to the golf gti?

Also, one of the monza 2's has a slight scuff and wondered how much roughly they cost to refurb and do you have to get it done by a specialist or any alloy refurb place?

Lastly, the automatic headlights don't seem to come on as early as i would have liked, can this be adjusted?

Thanks for your help, by the way, the forum's great!! have learned loads already and was a great help leading up to buying the car!!

Hi DJ and welcome to the Forum

Congrats on your new purchase, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I let the engine cool down for 30 seconds or so, but that's it. Although you can wait a little more.

Monza II's are notoriously hard to refurb. Some on here have done though with good results.

The sensitivity of the headlights can be adjusted by the stealer...at a price.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Hurdy, that's good advice!

My husband hasn't got a new wrx, it's the blob eye (55 reg), unfortunately it has 285bhp and the merest hint of me whooping his ass would probably send him into fits of laughter ( but i reckon i could have him really!) The fifth gear shoot out was a joy to watch and confirmed my desire to finally buy one!!  I've kept it on my sky + to tease my husband from time to time!!!
