Title: exhaust question
Post by: 2pac on 03 April 2008, 22:36
hello
i fitted a gti system to my driver, and the tailpipe is one pipe which splits into two. i don't know if it's the original thing and what's the point of it. anyway, i may have to have a new outlet welded cos' the guy shortnened it too much and now all the fumes enter the car.
the question is if it's ok to weld a single pipe instead of the one that splits, and if it's ok to weld a straight pipe (the driver's tailpipe bends towards the left side).
and anyway- what an original 8v tailpipe looks like?
cheers

ya man, you can just weld a straight single pipe there if you likes, it wont affect really, apart maybe from the noise. think the standard gti one is a twin tail pipe that points to the curb, but i might be wrong.

as long as the internal diameter of the pipe is the same as the existing pipe, it wont matter!
