Title: MK5 Golf Mats Quick Question
Post by: Vamp534 on 02 April 2008, 20:59
Hey guys,

The missus just bought me some fitted mats from the local dealer for my Golf (Mk5) but they don't seem to fit. Firstly my car has the twist (oval) fittings front and rear but the mats only have holes on the front mats. Not a major problem as the fitments unscrew from the rear but still... the biggest problem however is that the holes in the mats at the front do not line up with the pegs and I cannot remove the pegs from the front of the car without physically ripping them off as far as I can see. Does anyone know if this is normal? Do I just need different mats or is there something I am missing!

TIA
Mick

My MK5 GTI only has the oval fixing for the front mats and not for the back ones (3dr).
Take the mats back and get them exchanged. Just tell them you want the mats that fix to your YEAR of your car

The car mat fitment changed in late 2005 to the "hole" press fit which you have. Take them back to the dealer and inform him of the error of his ways

Sorry if i wasn't clear enough. The type of fitment is correct. The alignment of the holes in the mats to the fitments in the floor is different!
