anyone know of a good way to clean the fuel tank on my MK3 Golf GTI 8V. the car was stutering so after changin every thing else tht the forum sugested i decided to change the fuel filter and this resolved the issue. but now it has come back and i want to clean the tank and put a new filter on again.

are you taking the tank out to do it?
If so the best thing i find to use is brake cleaner as any left over evapourates.

yeah i was gonna take the tank off the car and do a proper clean. also can the fuel pump be cleaned at all

You could always get a new tank?
Not sure how much they are, surely not too much.

Empty all of the fuel out of it, and then leave it overnight for the vapour/small amounts of fuel left in it to evaporate, and then flush it with water, preferably from a hose. Just leave the tank flushing for an hour or two, then empty the water out, leave overnight to dry and then re-fit.
