Title: TDi chipping and photo's
Post by: Greeny on 14 April 2004, 10:19
Ok, need some informed advice. Saw a self fit chip thing in Performance VW before Christmas. They reckoned it took 10 mins to fit, and it cost approx' ?350. Anyone know what this product is, and if so, is it any good? Running TDi 115 at present, and although it is plenty quick (surprised me!!) fancy a bit more welly. Can't justify shelling out thousands 'though. Would like 140'ish grunt. Oooh, another thing, please bear in mind I am IT illiterate, how do ya put pic's of ya motors on here??

Cheers mate, will have a peek. That said, the weather is crap up here at the mo' so god knows when I'll get it clean enough to snap. Any recommendations on remaps?? I really am that new to this!

really is a case of reading loads of threads on the net, remaps seem to be the best for getting extra ponies out of any forced induction motor, on all diesels the Revo seems to be the best, just not sure on what they offer for 115 models ( iw ould ring them).  If your car is stil under warranty you may just want to go for a removable tuning box, these do not give such a hike in BHp, but still enough,

Always go to someone reputable, Van aaken are a good bet as they have been going for years, but i would look through some of the old threads on here for ideas for the 115 model.

good luck and let us know what you go for.

Have a word with Simon Coe of Upsolute. He can do a chip change for about ?308. He comes to you as well. Had mine done and is well worth it. Nice bloke as well. Cheers, Kev

 :D Cheers gents.

That Mk2 RS2000 brings back some memories. My first motor as a Mk1 RS,white with an olympic blue band. In the days when insurance was affordable. Lovely. The next car my old man bought me was a 2CV. Black and red Bloody awful.Enough said. Off to search for goodies.

sorry about the escort related question, but why the hell did you get rid of the mk1, mk1's ooze more appeal than a mk2

Reason being was that I couldn't keep both! The MK1 was a really nice car but had been restored from the roof downwards to not the best of standards. The MK2 has still the original paint and decals and has never been welded. Hence why I kept the MK2. It is, however going in for a full inside/out re-spray next week to bring it up to working class standard. Ta, Kev.

Stupid adolescent child of the time. Still waiting for wheels to arrive, tho' Michelle Phiffer on telly so not complaining. Bloke in Blaydon (Gateshead) does Revo, so going to go see him this week. Think am having midlife crisis @ 32!! Our lass says no way to any 'improvements'. Hmmmm....
