Title: Are BBS alloys an investment??
Post by: LaserBlue on 29 March 2008, 17:55
Well as most of you know BBS as filed for bankruptcy because of a major customer pulling out of renewing contract

Who is this customer? VW, SAAB VAUXHALL, VOLVO?

Ive been searching through the net and came across the m5board they have a long thread all about it saying the company isnt dead but close to it and would be wise to buy your desired BBS alloys NOW.
As in the future they will be worth a bomb!!
Also BBS alloys which you cant buy with a car e.g BBS CH with motorsport written on them will be worth more than the ED30 alloys basically non manufacture supplies

This got me thinking about buying a decent set of BBS wheels.. To be honest i have noticed of a few alloy sites the prices are a little higher most over £1000!!

I love the BBS CK
(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w144/118d-Sport/black-gti-8.jpg)

BUT ive just purchased a set of S3 alloys so im keeping an eye on ebay and other site for a decent set of BBS

Anyway which are your desired BBS alloys?

Apparently BBS have been going to go bust for about two years. You can go to many alloy wheel places and get any set of BBS with relative ease. I have just picked up there 2008 product catalogue. I don't think BBS are going bust at all, it is just a rumour that has bin exaggerated massively.

If you look at this in the cold light of day..............car parts as an 'investment'?
In the true sense of the word ?

No way

Unless of course someone can point to an aftermarket part that's making well above its original purchase price, and may well be setting a trend ?

I won't be holding my breath.

BBS are continuing to trade.

They were purchased by a large company called Punch International early 07. We have been appointed the UK importer and have been suppling the current range of wheels since June 07.

Most styles are available ex factory with only some of the RX wheels on back order.

The new additions to the BBS range are pictured below.

Hi all..... I got mine from Philip at PW Motorsport. Had a slight issue with two of the wheels that had been delivered direct from germany, but Philip sorted for me 100%

What tyres are you riding on now then, for comparison ?
Title: Re: Are BBS alloys an investment??
Post by: LaserBlue on 02 April 2008, 06:54
ive got the Goodyear Eagle F1s..
The guy at the tyre shop said hes removed a few continental sport tyres off cars before with cracks in the center of the tyre he thinks its due to over inflating and they have a poor sidewall.

I could tell the difference straight away soon as i drove away with eagle f1s, but they aint all weather tyres.
For maximum grip in the rain/snow Toya Tyres are superb i had them on my beemer and they stuck to the road in the wet so well. .

Ive tried toya, yokohoma, conti, dunlop, bridgestone and pirelli on my cars before and have to say the bridgestone and goodyear have been the best.

I aint tried the michellin pilot sport i hear there still the top dog tyres.

Id spend any amount of money on tyres to get the best available i think there the most important and basic safety mod you can do to a car could even save your life!

Those BBS wheels are gorgeous, are they 18" or 19"?
As for tyres, I have tried most types, and the ones I really recommend are the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's. They keep road noise down, especially on motorways, and are an excellent all weather tyre. I always change my tyres to these now.

Don't think there the actual rims fitted to Joes car, his car is black and in the picture you can see a bit of yellow. I could be wrong though
