Title: backfiring at speed

driving my golf yesterday for about 8 mile real nice to drive about 75mph then i put my foot down and it pops and backfires and seems to judder just a touch then it clears just like that any ideas anyone first time its done it cheers all, New battery , plugs ht leads , dizzy cap , exhaust , and coil

yes could be mate as when i was driving back the revs were a tad high so i adjusted the screw when i got back to around 980 where it idles real nice when warm would a fuel filter change be a good idea

Check your earths - could be one of them is dirty but is only breaking down under load.

The earths - from the ECU to the chassis, from the engine to the chassis and the engine and battery to the battery.  A dodgy connection to any of those, which is cutting power could result in no sparks from time to time and backfiring.

yeah sound mate will check them out as my battery dies from time to time with a new battery coil fitted and alternator
