Title: 1781cc engine codes

Could anyone please tell me the difference between the 1781cc carb engine fitted to a Golf II (code GU) and that fitted to my Scirocco GTII (code EX)?

Having thought about it, the most likely difference is the engine mounts. I would like to be certain though, there are a lot more GU Golfs around than EX Sciroccos, and I'm bound to need some parts one day.
