"a standard lower spoiler valance is £39.27 but the one you're talking about is a special edition one and is £277.26"
This was a quote from my local VW bodyshop for a repair to my rear Ed30 bumper...
So a standard GTI black valance is £39 but an Ed30 one BEFORE paint is £277!!!
Madness.

because they are different, the std one is textured plastic and VW will have made 100000's of them, ed30 one is smooth and ready to be painted and will be limited supply, i have just baught the FULL r32 rear bumper, including upper middle and lower(exhaust part) for 100quid of ebay

CocoPops - You are not comparing like with like. The Ed30 rear is ONE bigger piece for the 'spoiler' and 'tail pipe trim' (the correct VW terms), hence the cost difference.
The R32 'spoiler', for example, costs £138 and the R32 'tail pipe trim' costs £74, both primed, which adds up to £212 ex-vat (sorry I don't have GTI prices to hand, but they'll be similar).
So, does your £277 quote include or exclude vat? Either way, the difference isn't as "CRAZY" as you are shouting.

When I had my TDI, I swapped the standard valance for a GTI one when I fitted the rear Milltek exhaust. It was a few years ago, but the whole lot only cost £30 +VAT

Bike and car plastics are dearest around.
brake calliper carriers are pricy to @ £116 for a lump of metal.

The ED30 rear is different in shape to, I seem to recall someone telling me it was made by a well known bodykit manufacturer whose I can't remember :embarassed:

I've got a ed30 front spoiler on mine (£325+sprayjob) and I think it had Votex written on it. I think they must make loads of "plastic stuff" for VW as I retrofitted an armrest and the plastic frame had the word "Votex" moulded into it.

Thats the 1 I think
