Title: Beware Swift Cover!
Post by: Len on 28 March 2008, 12:52
Just seen an email to say that they have renewed my cover for another year!
Now there was probably a box that I should have un ticked last year but they should have at least told me how much they are charging!
I will be cancelling this and searching the usual places for a quote and will probably not renew with them on principle now, but just thought others may not be aware of what they do!

i had the aa try that on me by sending the cert and policy in post and a letter thanking me for renewing, did have a price though but it was £900 thats £600 more than last year.  i made sure to cancel the direct debit asap now with someone else for the nice sum of £290.  all they had to say was sorry but its an automatic renewal if you dont call and stop it. :S

ah swiftcover....i cant stand em! whats with the chickens:

WTF?

also get a quote in under 60 seconds? yeah thats fine cos they dont ask all the info and assume the rest so when you go and take the policy you have to give the rest of the info and find out the price has changed....

breathe...rant over

Auto renewing is actually quite common practice now, its not something i personally like but we do it on some policies at hic....swings and roundabouts i suppose - saves you driving round uninsured if you forget... :undecided:

But yeah len, they should really tell you, the way we do it is send out the invite and price etc and say it will be auto renewed unless we hear otherwise.

That sucks. . .

Would be funny though if LV decide to take my insurance out of my mums credit card at the end of the year! I have a feeling its going to be over £1000 still!

Yep! Plus 11 years NCB.

Best I ever had was The Post Office. £124 less £50 cash back!

The Post Office was the best price I got as well but believe me you really dont need the hassle that you get with this company. They cancelled my policy in error and didn't tell me and then informed me the whole premium had to be paid again before they could refund the premium paid originally. Yes I thought it was a bad joke but in fact they were absolutely serious!!

Just did a check around and the Post Office came out best, but then I went in and added a few Mods and it came out £386

So they obviously dont like any Mods!

As it turns out I'm gonna stick with Swift as I did have a tiny prang thats still ongoing!
