Why is it whenever i see a nice mk4 or mk5 R32 there is ALWAYS a man driving it that looks about 90 ?
-
because the petrol bill gives us grey hair
-
they are the only people that can afford to insure them?
-
why is it that most chav-wagons are driven my yoovs?

Id say because of cost.

i think thats the law or something
-
round my way all youngsters are driving mk5 r32's :undecided:
-
Because:
1. Insurance
2. Not all of us can afford to run at 18mpg
3. Price
But you could always bypass all that and get a loan or finance to cover the cost which would lead to all sorts of problems which i wount go in to.
Plus those 90 year olds you see, cash in their pension and are living a freehold life where the only thrill they get comes from the cars (because at 90 taking viagra can be dangerous and sex is no longer a pleasure but a mission and can lead to loss of life)
-
Cus they cant beat the kids on the streets, so they do it on the roads.
-
Us old men have earned the right to have nice cars without having to take out a mortgage to pay the insurance, that's why.
-
because young people prefere mk5 gti than r32 as its turbo'd and alot faster after a remap. in the dry
-
I'm yet to meet a performance problem that couldn't be solved by simply throwing more cc's at it. Normally aspirated V8s are the way to go, turbos are for geeks. Might be a problem dropping e.g. a Mustang lump in a Mk2 though.....
-
Been done mate! well it was a TVR V8, but a V8 nonetheless!
-
and it was a MKI len, ha ha.

:embarassed:
So it was! But it was chopped and widened too!
-
TVR V8s are Ford lumps, aren't they? If it'll fit in a Mk1 then a Mk2 should be possible I'd imagine - with a lot of metal bashing of course. Should think it would be a bit of a handful in any case - corners would be a challenge!
-
No they were originally Rover/Oldsmobile based engines but went the same route as the Range Rover ones and went up to 4.4 litres in the end.
-
Bit more compact than a Ford lump, then? Still a challenge for the average home mechanic I would think....
-
my 1.8t is running ta 18mph most times I drive it, maybe I should get an r32

It's a good link, isn't it?
There's a couple of videos up on Youtube, unfortunately the sounds not that good quality and it sounds like the auto box was hunting a bit - details to iron out, innit.
