Title: 2weeks old and a reaaranged rear bumper!! arrrggghh!
Post by: CocoPops on 27 March 2008, 15:19
Stopped at a roundabout and a mondeo decided he wanted to use my car instead of his brakes!
So my 2week old GTI Ed30 now has a slightly rearranged rear bumper!

Waiting in a queue for helphire now!

The old 'I thought he had gone' accident, almost done it myself several times.

I found helphire to be very good, apart from the Touran they gave me to drive while mine was off the road  They took care of all the repair work, insurance chasing and personal injury claims.

It wasn't as if I went to move off, I was stationary with brake lights on and he just didn't stop in time!

I've used HelpHire in the past and they were good, so fingers crossed.
It looks like the car needs the metal reinforcer behind the bumper and the lower part of the rear bumper. The top part looks ok... but will need to be looked.

Don't forget to claim for dimunition in value given the car's now been in a crash.

Absolutely bleed for you. How can anyone do that sort of thing to a brand new car

Sorry to hear about your bump

Does your insurance company recommend helphire or is it part of your policy?

I've used HelpHire before.
They put you in a "like for like" car rather than a bodyshop Ford KA special lol!

Sh!t. That really does suck the big one

£4k payout is about standard now for whiplash claims - and the insurance companies don't even seem to bat an eyelid at them now.

My old GTTDI got hit by a reversing, braindead "elderly" gent when it was 2 weeks old, so I really do know how you must be feeling.

I know just how you feel, I came out of my apartment one day to find some brainless bimbo had reversed into the front of my C2 and smashed the bumper up.  Got it all fixed on her insurance.

Didn't affect the re-sale value of the car, I never told the bumper about it :)
