apart from the slight leak im not sure whats supposed to be seized?
also it looks like something is prehaps missing from where my finger is pushing in the top picture? am i right or wrong?
any pointers/ advice/ critism or abuse would be helpful.
cheers J

Aha, that's the bias valve. The arm connetced to the spring will pivot on a pin pulled by the spring, but will be rusted up. Soak in your favourite lubricant to free it up or replace (about 40 new i think).

ok ill give the bugger a good drenching in penetrant oil!
does everything look as it should to you? it seems like something is missing?

Looks alright from this angle. If i remember rightly there's a rubber bit the spring attaches to on the arm. Don't think the bit you were pointing to matters really, more the side you can't see in the pic.

the arm seizes up so it wont move when more weight is put in the car. so it got to be free and working

Sorry for the hijack but:
Should the actual arm on the valve be spring loaded?
i.e. resistance when you release the seized bias valve without the large spring attached?
Can anyone help me here: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=82159.0
