Title: One Price, No Extra Costs - The Volkswagen Accessory Promise?

Does anyone know if this is still valid?

I am getting ridiculous quotes for retrofit of Cruise Control, from £176 - £275!!

Called VW Customer Service they deny all knowledge of the article or this "product".

Isn't cruise an option price of about 250 on a new mk5? So to later cost 150 all in doesn't exactly make any sense!

yeah but you get 3 years warranty on the factory fitted cruise and only 2 years on the dealer fitted cruise

Yep you would think so, however loads of MkV owners have had it retro fitted for £150 inc vat.

I have just had another quote from a local VW garage for £165.

I actually have it fitted already...but its faulty, it didnt come as a factory option, vw have no record of it and i cannot find who actually fitted it...At a recent service the dealer said that it "wasnt even appearing as an option on his diagnostics".. so I am thinking that its either the stalk switch or something thats not been configured. I was looking for the price as a worst case scenario.

Ok thanks to another eagle eyed gti forum frequenter (winrya), i took a trip to another garage and picked up the Accessory booklet :D

Page 10 lists Cruise control as an Accessory Pack! £150 inc vat AND Fitting!! date of publication 8 February 2008, so i must be current.

This must be retailer fit, cos the Cruise at Factory Fit on Page 8 is a £270 option!! Go figure...

So,...back to my original garage AC at Jordanhill armed with said leaflet and a request to either FIX my current cruise or replace with a completely new unit for £150 ...
