I was just woundering if anyone can give me sum tips on what to go for etc? i'd have a budget of around £300 FOR A FULL KIT? WOLD THIS BE POSSIBLE? im guessing ebay will be the best place to start for second hand stuff. I dont wanna be spending like £200 on a gun if it may only get used once a year if that..would just like some tips on the best home diy set-up.

I've wondered whether you can hire them?? This website seems to do the lot...

depends what your spraying, as a small compressor just wont do, it wont have a big enough capacity......

I would be more worried about finding a clean environment with ventilation and baking machines to stop runs and save time and effort of spraying?
I guess it does depend on what you have in mind learning or doing paid jobs?

I just spray in my shed, with spray cans, and i have done good work, but as said, its all down to if you know how too!!
And where.

i know what im doing, i've sprayed lots and lots of things and has always come out great!! i spend most of my time prepping prepping and more prepping. I've always used cans tho, still...i do a damn good job! i just feel i wanna mabye learn how to do it with a gun instead of halfords cans. Last year i had my golf resprayed and to be honest there are bits that i'd like to do myself, as its my car i know i'd do i better job!!! plus the satisfaction of knowing that i did it!!!
I wouldnt like to do jobs for money or anything like that, its just an hobbey thats i've always been interested in!!
Aslong as have a good mask etc etc i think i'd be good at it, self taught..i was talked to a guy who sprayed his whole beatle in a single gargae at home and the paintwork was mint!!!! it really was!! aslong as i put plently of lacqure on i can buff all the dust/flies off!!!! :smug:

my dad used to spray in our garage and the work was pukka everytime.
He put water on the floor to stop dust flying around aswel.
I would buy the expensive stuff and maybe search for a paint forum or something. Will save you buying twice

A good compressor set up will be far superiour to any spray can no mater what any one says. I use a 50L Compressor at home which is enough to do a panel at a time without any problems. If you plan to do full body resprays you need to be looking at 150L belt driven compressors.
I payed £20 for my first gun and that gives a much better finnish than any can!! i then spent £80 on a nice air fed one which isnt much diffrent to the £20 one, its just better quality and nicer to hold. Its also more adjustable.

listen mate i'm a panel beater and sprayer and i suggest you buy a second hand compressor and new equipment.
try machine mart for spray guns and other equipment they are quite cheap.
how big is the garage you are spraying in?
