Nice car - Great pictures.
Are you running M+S Winter tyres or just summer tyres on the S3?
-
For the moment i have M+S winter tyres 18 inch. Its law here on winter tyres from 1 dec to 1 april
-
Very nice wolf!!! Keep us posted on any mods you do too..... i think thats going to be my next car too.
-
Actually there was an S3 in white at the garage today beside my R32 and i was just thinking....can i scrap the R32? But then thought again....an S3 with a good spec would go up to about 33k+ especially with Recaros and then aswell the wait and the posibilities of an RS3. I think il stick to my R32 and the comfort of five doors
-
Lovely car Wolfbane. If I could have had one with five doors and DSG
-
Im waiting for my H&R Kit for the moment. And later it will be APR remap.
Any one know how many HP stage1 remap from APR gives for the S3,is it 305hp???
-
Yes 305-310, but they have done fuel pump and map for the S3 now with really good results
-

Looks good. Even better with the CF bonnet. It does look like it's going down the Jap modding road though with the looks.

Oh crap!!!. Looks like I may be having an S3 then and letting the missis have mine
I'll still carry on modding though  Then again could it be the RS3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
i think i must be the only one that isnt toooo keen on the S3. I've seen a few on the road and at the dealers but they just dont do it for me. Dont get me wrong they are nice cars but i prefer the R32 over an S3. I dont think S3's get as much attention as the GTI/R32's do either. Well thats what i gather from my experience up in this kneck of the woods.
-
They dont stand out at all.. and dont have a nice soundtrack like the R32. But thats what I like about them, it all about getting from a-b the fastest with ease
-
I gess its wrong forum to present a car like S3.But its nice in real and runs realy good with standard map,and a lot of people looks at my car when i cruise around,so i get enough attention. And with a remap, hmm come on, 4wd and 310hp  But i agree the Ed30 sticks out moore and is great
-
S3 is great. It looks great in white with titanium black wheels. THAT color combination you definitely notice. Outside my window there is black S3, looks nice too. Fit woman in her 45-50s drives it, that car fits her looks well.
I am keen on TTS myself, but the price premium over S3 is about 8500 euro. :lipsrsealed:
-
....Sorry but I find the standard S3 very bland. I prefer this version :-
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b308/RedRobin_05/oettingerA3_front.jpg)
And thank goodness it doesn't snow much where I live in the SouthWest!!!! I don't like snow.
-
RR you do know that that isnt actually an S3?
-
RR you do know that that isnt actually an S3?
....Indeed I do - I had been in the new S3 in Germany before it was on the road in the UK. It's beautifully built and trimmed - I particularly like the instrumentation but it doesn't suit my needs and I still think it looks too bland. I hate that chromy silver grill too but there are aftermarket black ones available.
I much prefer the oettinger modified A3 Sportback as I previously posted.
-
I am a fan of the S3 (for those of you who dont know) the only thing that lets them down is the wheels.... just dont look cool enough in my opinion... but wouldnt dream of going after market :undecided:
-
RR they do do a black styling pack :-

std the S3 is just a little too subtle.
Inside though it feels so much nicer than the Golf.
A nice set of wheels would transform the S3
The HUGE advantage is being able to make the 300bhp remap useable
Its a lovely car
besides its a ED30 engine so it is in the right forum
otherwise it would just be boring 5 dr golfs in here
-
....Agreed - There's no doubt that the S3 is a quality car and great that bods like me could order a 'black' kit from Audi. I considered the Sportback when I was looking at the Mk5 GTI but the boot depth is too shallow for the odd occasion I need to carry a large monitor and all my on stage music gear.
You could easily change the S3's alloys if you don't like the factory ones, unless you've got a hang-up about never modding a car.
It's great that there are so many different cars for us all to choose from to suit our individual foibles.
-
I havent seen the boot of the sportback but if its anything like the R32... then its a pain in the shizzel having a boot with less depth. Its only when I looked at a friends boot i realised how much less space i have. Its impossible to get anything of odd dimensions in.
-
....The Mk5 R32 boot is barely 2" less deep than the GTI but, as you say R32UK, it's enough to make some loads very tricky.

It must be more than that... I was in a state of shock when I saw my mates boot! Much deeper... but like you said its those tricky loads :undecided:
-
This package landed today  So im on the way now....

I would debate if the S3 is any better than a GTi in the snow....I've had several 1.8T S3's and from experience yes these are excellent handling cars and quick off the mark but are pants in the snow.
Plus the S3 is really a pretendy 4X4 unlike the RS4 due to it being controlled by a haldex unit which also zapps a lot of BHP's..
My latest S3 was AMD remapped, Miltek, forge DV, large turbo pipe, K&N and produced 275BHP. I could not leave my friend in his standard 2 wheel drive Seat Leon CupraR. :embarassed:

   I had a GTI Edition 30 before my new S3.Its like day and night in the snow,no grip at all with the GTI.And you are talking about the old S3 with 1,8t engine its not the same as the New S3 engine 2,0tfsi just like in Edition30.I can now plant the gas pedal to the floor in every corner without wheelspin and it just push the car away . The new S3 does 0-60 in 5,7sec,not to compare with the old engine you talk about
