Last week Golf GTI shootout time 1min 28.1 secs.
This week Escort Cosworth 1min 28.5 secs.
Not bad. And both times were better than the Focus RS. :smug: :smug: :smug:

I think the GTIs gear ratios are well suited to that particular track, the fastest part of the course 112MPH is in 4th at exactly 6500 rpm. Also Considering that Cosworth is 12 years old I think it did rather well.
-
I'm confused.. different track?
I wondered when someone would ask this
GTI manual - 1min 33.7 secs
ED30 manual - 1min 32.6 secs
R32 - 1min 30.4 secs
W12 - 1min 29.4 secs
Around the TOPGEAR test track.
ST 1min 33.6
Cupra 1min 33.5

Are we confusing this with Fifth Gear's track (Anglesey)? As the GTI was a good 133.something on Top Gear's track..
-
Sorry but has topgear started again?
-
no not yet i hope otherwize ive missed out
-
i was pleasantly surprised that the GTi was faster round fifth gears test track, beating the Cosworth escort and mincing the Focus RS aswell.Wish they would put an DSG one round to show the difference in lap time. at least 1-2 seconds at a guess :undecided:

Nope sorry, the times were from Fifth gear, with VBH driving.

Probably a lot closer than that
5th Gear did a test on an Audi TT DSG vs Manual here :-

I won't tell you the result, may spoil it for you

4 tenths!!, she really cant drive
-
I guess it doesnt matter that she cant drive..as she drove both of them.

DSG will never be 2 secs faster round a track. 2 secs between the same car on a track is an age mate.. I would say that nearly half a second is about right..
