Title: Another ED30 Owner
Post by: ChrisED30 on 24 March 2008, 18:49
Hello everyone.

Picked up my Golf GTi ED30 2 weeks ago and love it. Its red 3 door with a manual gearbox with options of Lux pack, Satnav, armrest with Ipod, cruise and xenons. I've gone from a Supercharged Range Rover Sport and I'm really impressed with the golfs build quality.
Must say the perfomance is Ok but we always want more, so called Awesome GTi on Friday and ordered a Miltek down pipe and sports cat and back box, a forge DV and a Pipercross filter. When I've fitted them and covered some miles I'll be going for the Revo.
A great forum..
Chris

Chris said he had a range rover sport, i had a run in with  a remapped deisel range rover sport,f4ck me could'nt get anywhere near it till about 80mph f4ckin embarrasing, it was a wet day and its traction away from the lights was to strong for a gti. :embarassed:

Welcome to the forum Chris

Only 2 weeks and you've already caught the modding bug

The Milltek and filter should give it that little extra until you are ready for the remap. :nerd:

Thanks for the welcome.
I've only covered 500mls and cant wait for a remap so I'll do say 2k miles then I'll get it done. The dealer said it does'nt really need running in but to be on the safe side I just give it bit of a boot now and again.
Oh the Rangy Superchager has nearly 400 BHP standard and is a bit of a tool, just the build quality is pants and you need to have a sexual relationship with your local petrol station.
Any idea where the DV is on a ED30?

The DV valve is on the right front of the engine.  To the left of the cold air intake .

why change the dv as its only the gti that are prone to go, ed30 in a dif place and i ahvent heard of one fail yet on them.save your cash.

I changed it for three reasons really:-

1. Peace of mind (fit and forget)
2. Better boost holding capacity over the OEM valve
3. Improved valve response over the OEM valve

Totally agree Hurdy...but one would not understand why people fit these aftermarket DV's until one fit's a unit and feels the difference. Money well spent in my opinion.
