hiya, anybody know if a 2L or a 2.1 will run on my existing fuel management system, injectors etc, thinking of putting in a reconditioned lump, standard but with a little more cc, i have a mk2 golf with the digifant system, good engine but burns more than a little oil.
-
Yes it will, although the inlet ports on the 2E are a different shape to the PB motor, so the easiest thing would be to fit your PB head to a 2E short engine.
-
thanks mate but not sure what the 2E is, could it be maybe what the likes of volkspares would supply to me if i were to ask for a 2L replacement? or am i missing something else? thanks for your time.
-
2E is from a mk3 gti 8v iirc

2E is also fitted to much cheaper vehicles like Seat Toledos and VW Passats.
The extra capacity comes from another 15mm depth on the block, hence it's also known as a 'long block'.
-
thanks you've been a good help now feel i have more options. cheers
-
dont bother with a re-build. you need the same block as an exchange anyway. i got a agg delivered from 'stevens dismantlers' for £130 with 2e dizzy. no bore wear. these blocks are strong. ps http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90658
