Title: engine transplant

Hi guys, new to this forum but had loads of golf gti's. At the moment i have a 1987 clipper convertible, with a basic 1.8 engine 5 speed box. looking to put a gti 16v engine from a mark 2 straight in.  Do i need gearbox or clutch or will it fit straight in?  If anyone can advise. i appreciate it.

do a search, as this has been done before.

Lee Jackson is one example i know of 16v into a cab, hes called intheweeds on edition forum.

Although im certain i've seen a similar build thread in projects section! Will try and find it but no guarantees. Have a little look around the forum. Also try searching a few key words and see if any threads are relevant.
