im kinda thinking of changing my GTI to a BMW
anyway i did a valuation check on webuyanycar.com and they would offer
£12840 cash
anyway i redid the valuation without any optional extras and still they offer the same.
just on autotrader there are GTIs with 20k-40k miles sellling for £16-19k!! and some have no extras at all.
My GTI is a 2006 55 plate 5 door with dvd satnav and 18"alloys with just 14k miles
might go dealers today and ask them, saw a laser blue GTI last week there and they stated in the description "special blue paint" 30k, dvd satnav, mfs, leather plus 18" £17250

you will get a higher price if you were to buy anoth er vw from the dealer. i would expect no more then 14k on a trade because of the reletive low spec of your current GTi.Bmw dealer will offer you way less, more towards the figure youve quoted. You should stay with the brand, the bottom of the bmw resale market has plummited so ive heard on the grapevine, so i would be carefull on your selection. My new GTi seems to drive alot nice then the previous 05 laser blue one.Just feels better put together in my opinion. time will tell i guess.
Dont do the same mistake i did thinking theres better all rounders on the road, was a costly mistake and im now back with the car that in my opinion will tick more boxes then most of the BMW's (except a couple) will ever.

Laser,
Was bid 15K on my June 05 21K miles in January, when I bought an 04 M3 at BM main dealer, without any haggling and the M was cheaper than most on the BM network ( its got all the toys and right colour and low miles etc) so it was not a dog they were desperate to sell.
I have a high spec except crapnav, DSG, Leather, Monzas, Xenons,Cruise, Perimeter, full multifunction, Steel Grey, OEM detach towbar, 6CD etc etc.
The 15K was a straight telephone bid from a VW dealer in South London to the BM dealer whilst I was there.
In the end kept the GTI for the missus and chopped in 5 series we had.
But it's straight supply and demand, the roads are full of GTI's so are VW dealers, just do a national search, and although they will be much better than say the Ford or Vauxhall, there is so much buyer choice, the great resales I think are past us now, so if you recover say 50% on a 3 year old then its been fair motoring in my book, but it is always skewed by what you are buying, dealer incentives, time of the month, moon phase etc.
Agree in part with Phils comments, though maybe he has not tried a BM recently, some Beamers do make the GTI seem a little lardy

yeah i was after a 325i or 330i..
i just love the bmw handling that rear power is so unique to other cars
i used to have a 1series with 8.5,18s and nothing would come close around the corners
but i could spend a little more on my gti to get it perfect.. ive added up all the mods i want and they come to just under £2000
-
keep the GTi then laser!!!, £2000 is cheaper then changing to a bmw!
-
really depends on what someone wants to pay i guess..i paid £15.7k for 05 (55) with dsg milltek and just about EVERY option including leather etc car is minted but could have got an 06 basic model for 800 quid less locally...

Spot on Laser, the GTI is a fun drive, but for me nothing equals a neutral steering RWD, and thats what BM is good at. The 330 is a great lump, and build quality is still among the best. As nice as the GTI is , its no top end 3 series.
Have both

KentBladeboy yeah your right but bmws are always overpriced so will be higher millage car, older car compared to my gti
My other option was an audi a4 with the 2.0t engine or a new saab i just think there design of the new 93 is stunning.
-
laser, i really think you will be making a mistake, if your think of the audi with the same engine, or a saab!!!! thats a Vauxhall vetra!!, are you sure your not gonna get bored driving it. If your a keen driver, then those cars will bore you very quickly. Im only saying this because ive done same before and im back within 3 months!.

Laser
Choices, choices, ultimately, terminal understeer or neutral............my man, what is it to be?
Phils comments are spot on SAAB/ ABBA says it all really

lol suppose your right phil.. maybe im thinking to much about it
the gti is an all in one package.. ive decided now to keep it getting rid was just an idea i had.
but id rather save 2k and mod it to how i want it.
suppose thats sumet to look forward to.
i think the fasts gotta hold of me :nerd:
