Title: Turbo Back Milltek on the way :)
Post by: ED30_MLT on 21 March 2008, 23:44
I have my Turbo Back (resonated)on the way from milltek :) they said it adds 18 hp by just changing the exhaust and I think its a bit too much for just the exhaust !!

I noticed that the downpipe on the invoice is exactly the same they use on the S3

Anyone using this system

Hurdy is, there is every chance it will make a big difference, I put 1 on my regular Gti it made a massive difference, don't think it will be long till I get 1 for my ED30

I'm using it on mine. Before the Milltek I made 285bhp. I'm going on the rolling road day at Awesome on the 5th April (where it did the 285bhp) and so I guess we will see exactly what the exhaust gives you extra.

See my project thread for my mini write up on it

I think your car will have made more now without the exhaust Hurdy, every time mines bin on the rollers since it was first mapped its done more very time, 295, 298 now 302, it just gets better as the miles go up. So with your new exhaust it will really make more

After that I should remap , not sure if I get oettinger 305bhp , I dont want the 330bhp for now as I dont want to mess with my intercooler and car is still 700kms on

Hurdy did you have an issues when installed the Milltek like rubbing or strange noises ??

Thanks

Yes, The Milltek was rubbing against the underside of the car on decelleration particularly, a fixed bracket was catching against it about half way down the car. Also there was a loose nut causing an intermittent buzzing noise. These have now been sorted though.

is there an updated exhaust out just for the GTI by milltek??

i went to my milltek center (just 5mins drive away)  and they said they are now making a newer version of there turbo back system.

i didnt properly understand what he was saying something about the 2.75 going to a 3inch edition30 style with a center part??

i dont know anything about exhausts so it went in one ear out the other but i can defo remember the price £575!!

last year i was close to buying one and they said £350

....Are you sure? Don't "they" (Milltek?) mean that the Turbo-back will ONLY add around 18 bhp IF your car is remapped?

Without a remap, the Turbo-back adds a max of 5 bhp to a standard 200 bhp GTI, so I was told by Phil Millington himself.

thats what they said to me

I remember if not mistaken spoken to charles, i see it a bit difficult doing 18hp with just a turbo back

If that's the case I should see around 303bhp if it proves right and does add 18bhp after a remap.

Ok folks the debate begins here.If i have for arguments sake 300bhp on my pump GIAC map and i have no mods at all, everything OEM.
If i add a perform panel filter and then a milltek system am i gonna see gains, you would say yes :undecided:
if same again on race map you would expect again to see gains??????
whats says you lot? as i am going to experiment, 1st tommorrow on pump map going to vagcom mand measure blocks to see whats happening then add a panel filter then measure to see air mass etc..

I would normally say yes, but if you already have 300bhp with no other mods then I would have to say that 18-20bhp from a filter and exhaust is probably stretching it a little - or then again :undecided:

I would think maybe 10bhp at a push, but GIAC advise no other mods req for their hammer map, which i also have but i cant reach that figure nor can the guys on the audiforum either.Hence i want to try other avenues to see if i can a little extra, been looking at the panel filters and r/robin recomends the ITG filter @ £52 +£6.50 deliv, awesome with pipercross £31 and K&N £42, always used k&n so am swayed to them again.
