I'm hoping to give my Golf a damn good cleaning when the weather turns, which hopefully will include giving her a properly good polishing. I want to get a good shine, but also get rid of as many of the scratches as possible. Can anyone recommend something for black paint? It's metallic diamond black.

I'd recommend:
Sonus Green clay bar
Megs Quik Detailer (I'd get the big bottle of this, it seriously is amazing stuff!)
Collinite No.476S Super Doublecoat Auto Wax - Just brilliant stuff!
Autoglym Super Resin Polish
These should bring your paint up nicely :)
