Hi all, long time no chat
well the engine in my mk1 is currently giving me grief, bless it, if it wasnt so pretty i would burn it haha
anyway, i wondered, i have a mk3 diesel td engine, chipped to 110bhp
so would it add value, or de value my mk1 golf gti if i threw that in for sh!ts and giggles.... think of the mpg
-
devalue imo mate,mk1s should be strictly kept to petrol
-
it depends what someone will pay for it!
and it's all down to opinion too..
if its what you want then do it Don't do it for the money.. do it for the love of a car you love to drive!
-
i saw a company advertising mk2 gtis with a mk4 tdi130 engine recently. i phoned the company to enquire about the cost of a ready to roll car, £5-6k! it is a case of what someone will pay for it but i cant see it being a mistake either way. loads of torque and good mpg.......you cant go wrong! plus 50 mpg cant be bad.

MOST ANNOYING PHRASE EVER!

Certainly wouldn't devalue it as far as I could see and it would be something different. Oil burning mk1, loads of torque with a light body and good mpg. Sounds pretty good to me. I don't think it's an easy conversion though. :undecided:

it's true tho jordan.. might be someones ideal.. these things should be done for you not for retail... unless you want to go into business then find it out for yourself
-
i'd say no...but then again i have a mk4
-
Its your car, do what you want, and in my experience, theres always someone who'll buy what youre selling, so don't worry about it...
Anyway, think of all the torque you'll have, I say just do it
-
yeah i think its a pretty cool idea!
those diesels can be propper quick low down the revs!
-
i cant see it devalueing it in the short term. maybe in 20 years time it wont be as valuable as a mint original one. if someone has the skill to pit a tdi lump in then it will be fairly easy to reverse it anyway i would have thought. go for it
-
well i may look into it a bit more seriously, seems a good idea especially as i have the engine!!
nice and tourqey too
