Title: RNS510 + Bluetooth
Post by: CocoPops on 21 March 2008, 12:59
I had the "Premium Bluetooth" installed today so I can control the phone through the satnav display...

Fantastic bit of kit, highly recommended, Far neater than a Parrot solution etc, microphone sits in the panel by the interior lights etc and nothing else on show.

Touch screen dialling, displays through satnav and/or MFD on the instrument panel.

Very pleased :)

Also had Cruise Control added at the same time.

Where did you get this Premium Bluetooth kit installed? Is it from VW...any more details you could share

I bought it from a chap I found on a VWNavi forum.
His website is http://www.octavia-vrs.com/technical/bluetooth.html

It's all VW parts but apparently not supplied even as an option in the UK :(

Everything fits perfectly, the microphone already has a location clip in the interior light unit, the control unit has bracket mounting screws under the Front Right (UK Driver's) Seat.

Top job and all factory looking with no unsightly dash additions.

Looks good but looks like a bit too much work for me  :undecided:
How much did the kit cost you?

2hrs work (with "rain" stops).
£200 for the Bluetooth stuff.

That setup sounds perfect.
Makes good use of the standard functionality that should be available on UK cars. Can't believe that we have to go through all that pain just to have an OEM bluetooth setup!
Looks complex to do, however if I decide to keep the car long term then it's a worthwhile investment of time and money.
