Title: Car in bits HELP PLEASE - Suspension / bump stops
Post by: T72 on 21 March 2008, 11:18
Hi,

Got the car it bits at the moment. Not sure if I'm putting the rear suspension together properly [:o]

Rear suspension all came apart ok, top spring mount in good condition, old bump stop is goosed;

I've got a Bug pack poly bush kit, it's not clear what is what, I think these are replacement bump stops ??? [:s]  [:s]

Assuming I've not got this completely wrong I assume the three pieces go together like this;

If so does it fit on the shock like this ?? It's seems wrong and it slops around on the shock, it's not tight on like the original and is a lot smaller ??

Should I put the cover over the top of these (the bit on the right in the first picture) ??

Thanks,

J

From what i can see that looks correct,  Not sure if it is supposed to be loose but it wouldnt make to much diffrence?

with it beign loose makes no diff, as then they are pushed on theyll mvoe about the strut anyway.. and theyre shorter for if youre lwoering i would suspect, so you arent riding on them..

These are for the front shocks that's why they are loose. I'll be putting the old one back on till I get replacements.

Thanks,

rear polys will make the ride harsh, as the bumpstops are actually part of the suspension setup which is why they're soft n foamy.  Front ones just stop the shocks bottoming out :)
