Does anyone know if a 6 speed box is available for a 16v?
I know i've said never to mod the car, but if there was something criminal about the 16v its the terrible 5th gear ratio.

and would it fit the 8v? i have always thought they could both do with six gears!

I would love to know too.
How much would the ratios improve performance?

where would you get a 6 speed box from?

i'm not interested in performance, i'm looking for a way to drop the revs down to something sensible. 5k at ton is not sensible.

errm, that was my original question.....

Gt a 6 speeder out of a mk4, it will fit but you will need to change the flywheel, clutch, poss drive shafts (100mm inner cv's, I think 16v guys will be OK), gear selector mechanism as it will be a cable shift and the clutch actuation is hydraulic. You can convert the clutch to cable with parts from your friendly seat dealer, oh and the speedo is electronic so you will have to use the mechanical parts to make it work. (I am looking into the 6spd box for my mk1)
Steve.
Or fit a diesel box, that will have nice tall gears ;).
