the gti has stopped already and edition 30 stops in Aug, my mate works for Skoda which is part of VW as he gets all the lastest news, discounts and stuff
According to some bloke on Pistonheads
-
That's gotta be rubbish. The GTi's are generally the last of the models to cease production as they can chuck all the left over good bits on em and flog them as run out models. The MKVI is still a while off (12 months I reckon) and VW are hardly going to want 12 months of GTI customers buying Astras or Foci!!!!

MkVI Golf is due to be in showrooms after being unveiled in Geneva in Q4 2008 (Q1 2009 at the very latest) according to many sources with the GTI to follow 6 months later.

lol i love the rumour mill
Both GTI an ed 30 are still available to order.
There are lots of both the cars available on the system, we still have quota to fill.
Personnally i think the mark 6 is miles away yet. ( but that is my personal opinion).
People make up stuff all the time to create this type of discussion, is it not easier to wait for the offical press release.
(Why would some bloke who works for skoda know before a vw dealer, laughable really)
-
isnt it normally 6 months prior to a new model coming out that they stop taking orders?
I think its like that for all companies. The 6 months is the transition period where they change the machinery etc at the production plant to make the newer models (unless they use a new loaction which i doubt very much due to costs).

My prediction is that the ED30 will finish, VW will also ditch the R32 in the UK. (TAX reasons) The standard GTI will get the ED30 engine, which will be carried over to the next GTI late next year.

Sounds bollox

All I know is I ordered a 30 yesterday and my order is accepted although the wait is 12-14 weeks
