Im fitting a 4-1 manifold which is just a cast one with a stainless miltek exhaust. question is will I need to wrap the manifold or will it be ok. I understand sometimes they can crack?
-
wrapping it is essential for keepin the engine bay cool, 16v or 8v?
some manufacture advice not to use it but i dnt see why not, the thing get so ruddy hot anyways
-
Im planning on doing it tomorow does gscps do it. Is it easy to do?
-
hmmm mine isnt wrapped and my oil temp never goes over 108/110 in traffic on a hot day, water needle no more than half way.

Well i found it to be a bit fiddly tbh. Also cost me a fortune as you need loads (went through 2 rolls). Buy 2 inch not 1 1/2 like i did if you get the choice. You need Stainless steel zip ties which are pricey but esential.
When you've finished i would recommend spraying it with waterproofing spray.
All that said i noticed the other day that the bottom section on mine has come away and pulled a big fraide bit off from underneath the car. Main thing is though it's stayed on the primaries so wont be melting anything around the engine bay.
Will be interested to hear how you get on.

see my car doesnt reach oil temperatures of anywhere near 108/110, more around 90 in traffic.. and that was before the manifold...i think you need a new rad or thermo crevice?
-
car's always been like it, sits between 88 and 96 on a run
maybe yours is broken not mine
-
ive read somewhere that cast manifiolds shouldnt be wrapped?

Oh I thought all this was about a 4 branch manifold upgrade
Silly me, no you wouldn't wrap a cast iron manifold. End of.
