Woohoo,
My Carbon fibre bonnet and wing mirrors are now on my ED30 :cool:
It was a long drive down and back considering I'm not feeling too well :sick: :sick: :sick:
The TT shop were fantastic and JV's allowing them to post an intro on this thread from them. My Exhaust had developed an annoying buzz and they even sorted that out for me too :smiley:
Dave from the TTshop took some pics and so they will no doubt end up on here. :cool:
The weave of the fibre is excellent as is the fit and finish. You can really see the deep shine on the bonnet too :drool:.For now here are some of my own pics

i take it TT shop can get any OSIR parts? I rather fancy the R32 CF lower splitter.. and maybe the rear one to match :laugh:

I'm going to do a full photoshoot of the CF and headlights soon.
OSIR can do all the OSIR stuff and the R32 even has a front CF part to cover the "Zimmerframe" :rolleyes: :wink:

Yes, the TTshop are sole European retailers for OSIR and can get any OSIR part.
I'm going up there next week to collect my CF exhaust trim to fit R32 rear.

As you can see from the pic below it isn't OTT. From a distance it is hardly noticeable. I'm glad I left the bonnet unpainted now :smiley:

Are these full mirrors or just covers? I ask as I have seen stick on covers available.

The mirrors covers REPLACE the originals and aren't stick on. :cool:

Now is it just me.. or does it look like your bonnet isn't shut all the way down in that last pic? Could be due to the reflections, or just a little alignment required.

some people are crazy (I mean Hurdy).
If I had the cash for luxuries like carbon fiber bonnet and mirrors, I'd buy something different from GTI instead, some sportcar, and not a hatch with sporty aspirations.

Only thing is, if I bought a full on sportscar, I'd still want to mod that and then you could say that I could have bought a supercar instead. I'd end up with a modded Bugatti or Reventon Lambo :undecided: :evil:

It looks okay from the fit and shut lines :undecided: I'll have another look, but I'm pretty sure it's okay.
The standard bonnet weighs 13.6kg and the CF one under 8kg. When you unlatch the bonnet it goes up on its own from the bottom now :cool: :cool:
Oh and it looks as good under the bonnet as on top as it is double skinned :cool: :drool:

Hi RR,
I ended up leaving the rear DTM lower spoiler as Justin agreed that it wouldn't fit an ED30.
That means I have another £500 to top up my modding fund.
Can't wait to see your OSIR lower spoiler on :smiley:

Attention Topher - I have ordered the R32 rear diffuser and front splitter, if you want the prices, ask me and il let you know, saves yourself calling them up etc. Im still waiting for them to get to Gib but il get some pics up for ya :smiley:

Have to agree with RR there.. the silver pulls it off brilliantly. Any other colour, im not so sure.

....Mine needed adjusting. Tricky because you don't want to upset the latch-lock mechanism, but it's just a matter of making it look even and level all around.

Err, I've already mentioned it to them :wink: I'm undecided on silver or black as I have the Carbonio fitted in black already :undecided:
They showed me some interior CF in black and I must say it looks lovely. The inserts for the centre braces and the CF cover for the DSG. I didn't bite, but you never know :rolleyes: Also they have a front splitter that fits over the standard GTI's and I'd have had it if it had fitted mine.

Might be abit difficult...i got the talk from my father saying how if i spend any more money on this car etc etc i will take it off you etc etc lol....funny as iv got it booked in for tints next week and them two carbon fibre parts to come which are taking longer than the car itself!! :sad:

I am warming to the joys of CF, althought the TT shop must being doing ok as an email i sent reg prices has remained unanswered as yet.
How much is the bonnet? dont have anyone up here i would trust to fit that though.

If they want to make money from Golf owners they really should get some Golf carbon bits on their website, or even set up a new site for the non TT stuff. I would certainly like to see what they can supply.

....Just go to the OSIR web site and you'll see what the TTshop supply for the Mk5 Golfs. TTshop are OSIR's sole European reseller.

Wow, Hurdy.
That looks incredible. Just pulls your attention and really looks high class and the finish looks superb.
I like how dark the black looks on Rob's car but the silver just looks... :drool:
An idea:
Why not set up a section in the MK5 Section under a sticky or something where parts like these can be displayed. So when a new member joins he can go there and see:
CF Bonnet, black or silver. Gonna cost me X amount and takes so long to fit from this place and to finish it off. Have some pictures so that you can see the finished product?
Might be useful. I can think of a few things to go in there:
- Carbonio Intake Kit thing :huh:
- CF Badges etc
- Cf Bonnets
- Replica Rims
- Maybe put remaps etc under there too?
- LED Lights
- Bumpers
- Exhausts
Is that possible? Or just a stupid idea?

....That silver CF with the silver paintwork looks stunning!! It's very subtle and very individual, plus you have all the advantages of CF. It looks even better than I imagined and I look forward to seeing it at the show at Santa Pod :smiley:.
I doubt very much indeed whether silver CF would look good with any other paint colour than silver.

Mind was seeded for a CF bonnet after a birk in a flatbed deposited a steel nut on my bonnet at 60mph. It din't do much damage, but enough to set me thinking :wink:
