Hi all!
I posted a little while ago about a relay problem I have had on a 1.8 Driver(has a weber 32/34 on if that makes any difference). The 171 906 383 relay is buzzing when the car is warming up. I have replaced it and it still buzzes. The 171 906 383 relay is in no 12 on the fusebox board. According to the board above it's the fuel pump. But on another post 171 906 383 relay is for the carb manifold heater and i was advised to get Part No. 026 129 893 which I cannot find!
What does this relay control?? At the mo I have just taken the relay out because it's so anoying.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
Put up pictures of the under sides of the two relays and have a measuring tape in the photo.

ok. I will put the pics up this evening. What is it you are looking for?
Thanks JamesS

yes on carb models that relay is for the carby bits, check in your engine bay round the carb for damaged wires, and do it fast since some of the wiring is not fused!

I would love to help but i had the same problem with my driver back back back back back in the day!! There are so many factors that affect it so in the end i done what i should of done in the first place... SOLD IT!!!
Not that i'm saying you should sell it... check the wires around the carb, some of mine were heat damaged. Good luck.

I will check around the carb for any worn wires. Thanks for the advice! James

Hi all,
I have had a good look for worn wires but haven’t found any…….yet, im going to have another look. I could do with another pair of hands in the car saying when the relay buzzes whilst im moving wires about. It is completely intermittent, Sometimes when warming up from cold it constantly buzzes and other times, nothing! It makes sense that it is a wire rubbing somewhere as if you floor it, it buzzes and if you go over big bumps it buzzes. I will give it another look when it’s not pissing it down.
Have an idle problem also. When warm, goes from cutting out/250 rpm up to what ive set it at, 850. I have bought a service kit for the weber and I am hoping that will help cure the idle problem, along with good clean. I am also guessing that the idle problem is separate from the relay problem as webers are fully mechanical.
Having this caddy picked up tomorrow!

maybe its one of the temp sensors causing the problem, try disconnecting the red then the grey one. if it stops then you found the sensor or circuit responsible :)
Also the autocoke heater earths thru the brown wire on the top o the carb to the rocker cover, worth checkin that out!
