Title: what's it worth ?
Post by: nelds on 19 March 2008, 07:35
i'm looking at a mk1 1988 clipper convertible, 172000 miles, hood has some repairs and seats are worn. tax til may, mot til dec. the following needs doing apparently : no chokedown unit, no throttle panel, repair vacuum pipes, fit accelrator clip, oil leak, rear coil plug leaking, front pads worn, n/s/f wheel bearing worn, n/s/r brake cylinder leaking, brake adjuster mechanism faulty, new battery, new speedo cable, 2 new headlights, new washers and rear hubcaps worn.

i'll try and get a picture if it helps

i'm new to mk1 golfs so any advice would be great.

Well, if it's a clipper it's not a GTI so it's worth less for a start, hood's going to cost you anywhere from £300 - £700 to fix plus all the other bits to do and the high mileage I'd say that's not worth more than a few hundred quid either.

ti find out what things are worth.. look at forsale sections, pm people ask them what they paid?!

look at what similarly descirbed vehicles go for, and understand them by looking at informational sources like  www.cabbyinfo.com (i think)
