Anybody know how to fit the osir boost pod?? also the defi blue gauge?? i have the parts but dont understand the instructions, i have a forge dv so should i run it from this? if anybody has a walkthrough with pics on how to fit it to a golf gti this would be fantastic
-
no that i can help, but, where r u mounting the guage?
-
in the air vent on the drivers side, its the osir one.
-
i take it no-body knows
i have taken the vent out as it just pops out but how do i wire somthing up to the fuse box? also how do i then get to the engine from here?? :undecided:
-
have you tried over on www.vwvortex.com
they normally have a guide for these things
-
just been there. that forum is FAAAAAAR to big :shocked:got lost in the first 30secs
-
....I'm fairly sure that it connects from the spare branch on the Forge DV - Have a word with Forge, they are usually very helpful: 01452 380 999

what other gauges are available.
the one that fits into the vent looks a bit naff.. id prefer the one that comes outta the dash looks well kool.
-
pod just pushes in but thats the last thing you do.

1. Plumb pipe you have from dump valve nipple to boost sensor from defi kit.
(I put the sensor hanging from the screw holding the air intake on)
Ensure they are zip tied as they are under boost!
2. Now feed the cable that connects boost sensor to guage from inside engine bay into cabin through grommet down near battery
You do it this way as the connector at guage end is much smaller than sensor end.
Be careful you dont break/yank out the connector wires!
3. Feed wires from grommet through dash into vent by any means possible
(Hint : I used wire coathanger + taped wire to that to feed wires throgh various bits)
4. Fit guage electrical connections
Take panel off right hand side (bit hidden by door being closed) of dash.
Voila the fuse box
One of the top connections should be free but still powered with ign on (use multimeter)
I chose to connect all live, switched live and ilum wires together then use a spare fuse to hold the wire into the connection.
The only other wire left is ground (strip wire back and undo a bolt , wrap it round + tighten)
5. Attach adapter ring to guage (its a specific way round)
fit guage to pod
attach 2 connectors (1 for sensor , 1 for power) to guage
6. stand back + admire.
Check for boost leaks
any more just pm me

cheers for the info buddy, im starting it now so fingers crossed
-
good luck jo, lets us have a look once its in.
im going to have to ask the obvious though, what use would a boost gauge be?
wouldn;t you have been better off putitng something more useful in like something showing oil pressure?
-
joes car is remapped so its worthwhile keeping an eye on the boost levels
-
I will be doing APR soon , but even on a std car its worthwhile to check all is ok.
The OE dump valves are notoriously bad for failure , so its a sense check.
When the performance drops off , I can see if my boost levels change , if so I know where Ill be looking first
besides it looks cool
downside is , its an indication you have modded even when you have not.
although the connectors on Defi mean its would be 2 minutes to remove gauge for warranty work if you wanted to

hey john quick question, i take it that i do not need the 3 way nipple that is provided as i have forge dv so i can put an extension in this??
-
forge DV should have a free connection you can take from.
If its already used for something you maye have to use the 3 way to splice into it
