would i get away with just putting lowering springs on my shocks as ppl tell me it can mess up the handling and over time bend the shocks, i havent got enough for a full coilover kit but i do have enought for a set of £50 springs,
help on this matter would be great
-
What spec are the springs?
On -40mm you shouldn't knacker your dampers.
Any more than that and you should fit short stroke dampers.
-
so if i went out and got some springs with a 40mm drop, i can just put them on in place of the old springs.
also is it hard to do or would it be best getting a mechanic to do it as my mate is a VW mechanic
-
yeh 40mm springs will b fine. if you can get some gas shocks if you dnt already. fitting is easy with a haynes and bit of know how
-
cool, well if any1 knows where some are going cheap let me know
-
search in the parts for sale, also look at peoples posts who are breakin golfs, usually tend to have been lowered :)
-
cool, cheers for the help
-
will lowering springs that came off on mk2 driver fit a mk2 gti?
-
They'll fit but they might not lower much the GTI was lowered in comparison to the Driver anyway.
-
If you are still after springs, I have a set including shortened dampers. They were only on the car a month..... £80 quid ish for the lot.. let one know if interested.
