Title: Reckon I've got the Ride Height Sorted
Post by: Komenda on 15 March 2008, 14:58

Looking much better now I've knocked it down an inch all round. This is also on the new Janspeed Coilovers which I have to say so far are amazing. Been having a spirited drive and the amount of grip is amazing. They have helped launches to, much quicker off the line.

Springs are a bit firm at the moment but they will settle down. The damping is spot on, stiff but not crashy.

Also a pic of the headlights which were fitted today. They also look great, so thanks to Hurdy for finding them.

....I reckon your ride height is well sorted too , especially considering your deeper front splitter.

Ride height looks good, front spilter doesnt! It doesnt match the rest of the car!?! It looks like it 2inches lower that the side skirts.

....Oh dear! If I'm brutally honest, I think the same. You either need to change the front splitter or swop the sides to deeper ones, but then you would have to consider the rear perhaps. Alternatively you can tell us all to get thee hence and multiply!. Each to their own of course .

I'm in two minds at the moment, either I'm going to change the front splitter for the ED30 or similar as soon as I find one that I like. I don't want to change the side skirts as I like the lines of the car. Or the alternative which is quite a bit more costly is this complete front end but only if it goes with the standard side skirts

Oettinger Kit is my favourite at the moment for MK5's but its just abit too costly. Something like £700 for the front bumper and around £450 for the side skirts
Oh and...cars looking good!

....If you like the sides (R32 style) as is, then why not consider the OSIR? The oettinger one looks very deep like the one you've already got.

OSIR also now offer a more prominent central CF 'lip' version of mine.

Side view to show that the OSIR front isn't deeper than the sides :-

Red...i know its sort of illegal but ever considered tinting all your windows with a light smoked tint?? Gonna get it done to my R but im sure it will change the look of the car completely. Would look nice on urs with all the CF parts too

Manu - No, I prefer to see as clearly and as much outside as possible from inside my car, so no extra tints for me.

Oh, I've just remembered I have a graded blue top windscreen tint :-

I like that with the Carbon Lip, how much was it Red if you don't mind me asking?

....I don't remember how much and don't want to misinform you by guessing. Phone Justin/Dave at the TTshop 01234 853 225 (mention me!) and ask for a price - They are the sole Euro importers.

Hi Komenda

How do you get on with ground clearence on the ABT front spoler i am having lots of clearence problems on mine, i have now damaged bot front enges in the centre of the spolier, also it will ground out on a B road if you give it a bit.

It has started catching actually, and yes I have chipped the two corners on the front part of the splitter. As soon as I decide on which alternative I'm going for its coming off.

Yours looks good with the whole kit though

You're a legend, cheers mate. OSIR splitter is certainly favourite at the moment.

ride height is looking spot on, mine's sat a slight bit lower than that i think. do you get any scrubbing on the front or have you removed the 2 screws?

Mines fine at the moment, no rubbing at all and I've been pressing on a bit.
