....I would have to shoot you afterwards if I told you why

My wheels don't usually look grubby - I think it's just that Tornado Red is quite good at concealing the dirt.

....My GTI was built in July 2005 to Build 06. The earlier GTI's had the aerial in the rear window but this was stopped. Mine came with the long 'bee-sting' aerial but it fouled on my up & over garage door so I changed it to a Richbrook.

As far as I know even exempt drivers and cars have to display a tax disc on the mainland, so I deduce that you are on one of our fair isles?

According to Section 33 Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 - level 1 fine - fixed penalty offence - summary offence. And furthermore to Regulation 6 Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002:

"The licence shall be fixed to the vehicle protected from the weather and clearly visible in daylight from the nearside of the road and exhibited : -

Vehicles with windscreens extending across the front of the driver to the nearside,

- on or adjacent to the nearside of the windscreen"
- Which mine adequately satisfies. [I have highlit in bold text]

"The licence shall be so exhibited that all the particulars on the licence are clearly visible in daylight from the near side of the road." - Which mine adequately satisfies.

"visible" = "so as to display information relevant to the vehicle" - Which mine adequately satisfies.
