Anyone on here own this one? I could not sell it if it were mine it just looks soooooo very good not far my dream mk2!
-
looks very nice mate. i wish i had more money!!
-
you and me both fella!
-
if it wasn't for the mongy front end, the naff single wiper, the 'I'm trying to look like a van' vents, the lack of arches, the coded mirrors, the lack of a rear wiper (I find being able to see out the back useful on occasion) and quite a bit of the interior it would be great!
I do LOVE the colour, and the wheels look cool.
-
Man you really really love this car kittie, are you gonna bid??
-
the lack of a rear wiper (I find being able to see out the back useful on occasion)
Why do people do this? It has to be the dumbest mod possible (bar too-low suspension) on a hatchback. Do they think the look of a bargain-bucket Nissan Micra from the 80's makes it look cool?
I'm getting angry just thinking about this.
-
Form over function.. its everywhere and they'll never back down.

the daily has suffered the pain of dewipered-rear syndrome.

That wheel is missing a tie bolt!

Why do people do this, moan about other peoples cars!?
-
because some people on these forums dont like other people to have there own opinions,
-
Thats allways the way though people like a good moan and a good put down, its part of being British isnt it. If you ask me its a shame, by all means have an opinion but try and be positive where you can, and if you cant then dont bother sharing it
still onwards and upawards and i still love that car!

More to the point, why do people moan about people commenting about other people's cars on a discussion forum?
If I don't like it I reserve the right to say something on a discussion forum - it'd be a very boring place if it was just full of people agreeing with one another.
Some people like the car, I don't - why shouldn't I say?
I think some of the modifications are stupid - how am I wrong?

You don't have to be a sheep and agree with anyone, just keep you opinion to yourself.
-
Looks not too bad, I'd do a few tweeks, neeeeeds small bumpers tho...
-
i like it! i like the rallye front, the lack of arches, the interior, the colour coded mirrors in fact almost evrything. not a fan of the gauges in the dash but hey ho.
i find it funny that:
I'm getting angry just thinking about this.
why? its not your car? i don't have a rear wiper on my mk2 and on the rare occasion i drive it in the wet it doesn't matter too much. the rear wiper looks utter crap as standard.
i personally don't get people who don't modify a car, they weren't perfect from factory!

I've been offered an outside chance of buying a car from a colleague, and I have a list of mods, part numbers, wheels, tyre sizes etc, all stored on the PC already!
-
thats the spirit!

Word!

Ah yes - but how do clafiry modify.
I count mine as Modified - cos I have fitted crystal lights front and rear - but others say that isnt modified.
Its lowered too.
Not much wore will be done. cos I dont want to - and the Wife has told me I'm not allowed
-

WTF? So you only want threads where people post if they agree with what the original poster has put up? That would make a very dull forum.
i find it funny that.....
See I find it funny that it makes me angry - this is fun for me - I like bantering about modifications and cars and stuff - I call it discussing things on forums and yes, I have opinions - here are some more of them:
The rear wiper may look 'crap' in your opinion, but in my opinion you look stupid taking it off, because it performs a very useful function - it cleans the rear screen, which DOES get dirty in day-to-day use. The only cars that need rear wipers and don't have them are poverty-spec cars, ergo you're making your car look like a bargain bucket special in my opinion. Only someone persuing 'car as art' would take the wiper off - someone else already posted on this very thread who is annoyed that the previous owner removed their rear wiper.
Those are my opinions and there is your explanation of why it makes me angry seeing people taking rear wipers off their cars - it removes a handy bit of functionality from a car, which actually improves the safety of the vehicle in day to day use. Hang on, why stop at the rear wiper - those seatbelts are ruining the look of the inside of your car, with their tatty strappiness - take 'em off!
That may seem absurd to you, but to me so does taking off a rear wiper of a car..... unless it's a track car and you're looking to lose weight off it to go faster - THAT I can see the point of.
I can totally agree with you on the not modifying cars - there's plenty of stuf you can change on them to make them better, but I feel my vein of modification might be rather different to yours - as far as I'm aware we're both entitled to hold these opinions and share them, without anyone getting mortally offended, aren't we?

Nightfire red - the same colour as my old Mini Cooper!

yes its an MGRover colour
charcoal metallic black was the best IMO, oh how I miss the 200.
-
Mr Hell i'm not argueing with you. you actually make alot of sense alot of the time and some of your rants on e38 make me laugh!
however, as i stated, i rarely drive my car in the wet so it doesn't make much difference to me and looks alot better without it so that is why i removed it... oh and by removed i don't mean just take out and a bung put it the hole it was properly welded over and looks like it was never there. also i'm glad you said "in your opinion" i look stupid removing my wiper as strangely i don't see people pointing and laughing as i drive about, because of my lack of wiper....
now seats belts i would say are ever so slightly more important than a rear wiper so not sure thats a good example of other things that could be removed, hmmm can't think of anything else thats similar though....
as for people making cars look like a lower spec... well this seems pretty common in the VW world doesn't it? for me its pretty obvious my car is a GTi, do i really need badges and the tell tale signs to let uneducated people know it is one? if they don't know what it is, i don't care! as for peoples views of modifying being different, well this is something i've tried remain as open minded about. i do however tend to find those with modified cars tend to get looked down on from those that don't. i know a few concourse guys who win pretty much every show they enter, now the pair of them don't think much of my car even though it too has won trophies in different categories. does that mean because i have actually worked on my car to make it how i wanted rather than just maintain it to a high standard, never differing from how it originally was, that my car is any less deserving of praise? i don't think so, but often they do.
i'm not mortally offended by your views, you're building your car as you want to, i'm building mine how i want, good luck to the pair of us... i merely found it funny that you said you were getting angry just thinking about people removing a rear wiper?! don't get angry, its not your car, it doesn't effect your driving, you don't even have to look at it (unless you are behind a golf with no rear wiper in a traffic jam... whilst raining). banter is good.
-
de-wipered because i hate the rear window with a clean area where the wiper was and a dirty area where it aint. and before you say im too god damn lazy to clean my car every other week, about once every two months :embarassed:

more than i clean mine!
hell, the project hasnt been cleaned since i got it, so thats at least 2 & 1/2 years of dirt!
-
2 and half years, shouldnt that project no longer be a project? unless of course you are following the trends of the wembley stadium constructors :P lol oj

Passenger door mirrors.
I have to say I laughed out loud in traffic the other day when I was following an elderly beige Micra without a rear wiper - the question is, will the tartan rug on the rear parcel shelf be next year's hot modification?
E38 is there for the lampooning. I keep meaning to start a thread about this 'car as art' (http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101204) and the price it's being offered for
-
ahh see you need both mirrors when you've not got a rear wiper... that way you still have good rear vision if its raining and you can't see out the back window.... much like a van... do you laugh at vans with no rear window and hence no rear wiper? :P
-
Word!
I clean my car at least twice a week thus removing any major issues with dirt. I used to drive vans and lorries for a living and as a consequence very rarely look to the rearview mirror for assistance.
-
twice a week! you need to get out more.................and promise not to wash your car
-
^^ yeh sorta agree, but then again... "clean car = more chicks"
-
Aint much i enjoy more than lighting a fat one and enjoying the results of a couple of hours
caressing sorry CLEANING my lover CAR.
-
hahaha
-
well if you get bored of cleaning yours mine will never say no......my car that is
