Title: advice needed please with cat c golf gti!!

evening all how you all doing?

im hoping for some good advice! i have bought a category c listed golf gti mk3! damage consists of bonnet,front panel,front wing,front bumper! chassis legs look good with no damage!! what is involved with category c cars?? i have the green slip from the paperwork which i will post tomorrow but have been told i will not receive a logbook until its been checked???? please can anyone tell me what i need to do,how it affects insurance,paperwork,mots etc etc! thanks!  is it worth getting right again???

Can't give you all the answers, but cat C cars are classed as uneconomic to repair, but it sounds like yours wouldn't be too bad if you use 2nd hand panels

You do have to get inspected before you can register it, that involves trailering it to an inspection facility

Insurance can be a bit higher, and the value of the car a bit lower, but can still be up to 75% of the value

Bloke I know just put a cat C 944 turbo back on the road, and this info is based on his experience  :smiley:

uneconomical to fix and undrivable. i would find out why it was cat c not cat d

you need a special mot to put it back on the road afer its been repaired!

they are both uneconomical to repair, but cat c is undrivable as well, for example if you cant open the door
