Title: Highline, MFD, MFD Plus etc
Post by: CocoPops on 13 March 2008, 16:42
So my Ed30 has an MFD right, and should have a "highline" computer coz it has the RNS510 as a factory fit...

So shouldn't I be able to get a nice menu for changing light times etc

The manual references MFD and MFD Plus.... so wtf have I got?

do you have a full dot matrix display in between the rev and speedo? or is the top half just warning lights?

its its the former then its the highline.

to get to the menu's for lights etc hold the button underneath the wiper stalk for 2 seconds and then click the rocker switch on the end of the stalk once.

et voila

It's a full dot matrix display, that shows all sorts of info inc nav stuff when route guidance is on.

Like I say, in the manual it has MFD and MFD Plus but no mention of highline or midline.

Hi CocoPops,

I was reading the manual last night (sad muppet) and spotted the same thing. I have got the highline with MFSW at it gives you loads of info on the ‘full screen’ red panel. You can set delay times on exterior lights, auto-locking doors at speed and unlocking when you remove the key, intensity of footwell lights, plus access to the radio settings plus all the usual mpg, mileage until fill-up plus loads more.

The midline and highline computers are quite different. The typeface on the highline is very neat and legible, not a crude dot matrix style and the whole of the red panel is used.

Hope this makes sense.

Also Coco,

You can’t access the lighting/convenience settings unless the car is stationery. Only radio & MPG available when on the move!
Must be a safety feature, ie keep your eyes on the road.

cheers... Hotrod

Ahh hah!!
Found it!!
The manual says press the ok/reset button for 2 seconds and then the trip up/down...

but if you press and hold trip for 2 seconds it goes into the menu...

yeah, holding the button underneath does nothing ;)

You have to just hold the trip button for 2seconds. Seems to have changed slightly.

....Nurse! Nurse!!! Where are you? We've got another emergency with GTI-tis! You might have to strap him down if he gets violent - Some of these cases are very vigorous. The patient has gone very pale - Almost a candy shade of white!
