hello forum ;D. i am contemplating whether to buy a mk2 golf gti with 163000 miles on the clock :-\. is this just too much? it has got full history up to 120000 miles and the enthusiast that owns it changes the engine oil every 3000 miles. wat problems occur at this stage in a golfs life? how many miles can i realisticly expect out of her? please help me!!

mine's done 169k and going better than ever. regular oil and filter changes help :)
-
189,000 miles and it's quicker than my other one at 127,000 miles.
i suppose it depends if your gonna put loads of miles on it really?

If cars been looked after well should be ok my 8V has done 185,000 and is a superb runner my 16v has done 114,000 and again is superb..would say valve stem oil seals could be getting a little tired at that mileage, other than that just your usual car checks..

mine did over 300,000 before it started smoking badly. then it got treated to a 2.0L bottom end and a recon head as a reward. still going strong. Is this a record ?
whose got the highest mileage gti out there?
-
my mum got 280,000 miles out of a Audi 80 TDI ;D

my 8v gti has 201800 on it! and its still going strong until today when its started to misfire!??
but i dont think its mechanicaly related! not pistons, valves, valve springs etc! i hope it isnt a burnt valve!

208.000 on a mk1 8v,still going strong
