i'm 23 got a traders policy and can drive anything including cosworths, lambos and skylines for £1150 per year

I've just been on the insurance treadmill the last 2 weeks - the most competitive was Swiftcover and you can manage your policy online. The attraction for me was that the standard policy covered factory options whereas on some other I had to declare these and this bumped the price. HIC couldn't get near the quote.... But I'm 29, 7 NCB, 07 GTI and SP30
As Mikester said - if this is his first policy it may be a good idea to do one of the bonus accelerater schemes as you get 1yr NCB after 9-10 months

Be wary of these though, not all companies will accept your no claims bonus if you get it with one of these.

Tom - Can't comment on this as I did the accelerator with Bell and they were competitive on the renewal so carried it over no probs

As someone else said on this subject, cheapest might not be the best. You are only likely to find out if you make a claim. Recently Post Office insurance cancelled my policy due to an admin. error and left me driving uninsured. I received the letter informing me 2 days later.

True - everyone is price focussed when it comes to insurance and it really is when something goes wrong you find out if you should have spent the extra £60 on the other quote. The other way to get the quote down is bump up the voluntary excess, you get an immediate saving just make sure you don't need to claim! You only seem to get resonable excesses over 21.
