I'm thinking of really going to town with my focal speakers and getting an amp to power them in the front.
I'm looking for a two channel amp that is small enough to go under the dash etc
Links would be wicked :)

i beleive alpine do a small amp.
Why do you want it under the dash. You are going to seriously narrow your choices if you do that.

I guess it'd help if I explained my whole system plans....
Kenwood KDC-W6527 HU
Focal 165 K2P (200W Speakers)
Pioneer Sub
Mutant 300W Amp
Silver Travla C134, Slot Loading DVD/CDRW,
256MB, VIA Epia MII 12000, Carnetix 60W, Xenarc VGA/Composite TS and a GPS Mouse
(http://www.evilkeg.co.uk/gallery/rubbish/golf_system.gif)
Additionally I am considering still using the speakers that are in the rear just as complimentary speakers, but if they're not much cop (which I doubt) I've got my eyes on a set of ~100W 6x9 focals elsewhere...
I was considering putting the 200W amp between the HU and to drive the focal fronts as I already have the mutant running the sub amp in the boot, and I didn't really fancy making a song and dance about them both being in there.
I wanted it hidden away, as it's not like I am showing this :)
My sub is not ported if that makes much difference
Should I put all my hardware on some MDF in the boot?
I dont know what to do :s

You would want to be pushing a good 2 x 100w rms through those comps to get the most out of them, but most amps genuinely outputting that sort of power aren't what you would call small. Maybe something like a genesis P4 bridged would do the job nicely, and being fan cooled they are pretty compact, but unfortunately not cheap - £330 new or about £120 for a decent used example.
Looking at your previous thread, you don't have anywhere to mount the Focals - they would be wasted in the parcel shelf, as well as the fact that the sub would cause them problems. You'll pay a lot of money for new door builds (£200 for audioscape) and second hand items are rare (I just sold mine for £50). Have you considered selling them and getting some 5.25s (13cm) which will fit with little effort?
I would be inclined to go for a 4-channel amp that will do both jobs - supply the sub with ~300w, and also 2 x 100w to the front end. No need for additional amps under the dash.

I've maybe not updated or possibly i didn't post before firefox crashed earlier while looking at another site but I've ordered:

Audioscape door pods :)
They were really helpfull on the phone earlier too :)
Linky to teeny tiny hint... just the word ordered (LOL) (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=79474.msg647522#msg647522)

Cool - I wonder how many of those they still sell?
I would, in that case, still recommend a 4 channel amp to keep things simple. What's your budget amp-wise?

Would do the job - that's the budget (but still good) end of the market.

Hmmm my mutant one was around 70quid iirc and that was only two channels about two years ago.
She's lasted well and I guess I could sell it on the bay... she's got a few scratches on it where it's been hit by stuff in the boot when moving house etc.
I've so far spent £Â£Ã‚£ on service and ice this week... facken hell :S
It's not like I've got that cash to spend on a 17 year old car - LOL
Ahh well she'll sound and look sweet once I've installed everything... I'll see how I get on, I may not need to drive the fronts.
I'm still stuck as to where I'll put the screen etc, and am considering buying a spare console area to work with, so I can restore her back to normal for the next owner :) hmmm more money!

If you don't amplify those focals, you will not realise 90% of their potential. Another 2 channel amp would suffice, but you probably won't get what you need under the dash easily. No reason another amp can't sit along side your existing sub amp in the boot.

Plus it'd give me some sort of redundancy I guess :)
I've overspent this month, so I reckon I'll be doing it next month... roll on the 25th!
