Hi just tried to book a day on track at Blyton (its not officially a track day - they call it a test session so no marshalls or first aid etc but friendly and relaxed. its an airfield so you can see if there is any danger up ahead anyway!)
they are not open on that day though but they will open upif i can get 3 or more cars there. does anyone fancy coming?
its 45 plus vat for the day 10 - 4. they are based in lincolnshire between sthingyhorpe and gainsborough. theres a couple of pubs in the village who both do cheap lunches (2 for £7 if i recall) and a world famous ice cream parlour! what more could you want!
need to know if anyone is up for it ASAP
any questions?

Good price should be good fun if you can get enough. Can't make it unfortunately, I've got an airfield day booked for this saturday.
Have a good day.

H'mmmmm, my other half with her bump and the 16month old daughter might though!
As I'm not sure whether the Golf will be road legal it would possibly mean hiring a trailer, so costs start spiralling. I'll wait and do a session at Combe on April 19th.

Hello.
Thanks for the text - sorry I can't make this one (off on the following saturday anyways)
Let me know when you are doing it again.

(p.s. any news on getting some slicks yet?)

Hi, Blyton is only a small roughly laid out circuit using cones and tyres, which often get scattered about. We use it occasionally for testing our cars. Its a little on the rough side with it being on concrete so its hard wearing on tyres if your into chucking it round corners. Just thought it worth mentioning.
-
cheers. been there a few times myself. on the plis side though its quiet relaxed and friendly. i have never had a problem with cones. we use semi slick track tyres which are pretty soft. we have done 2 full days on these and have loads of life left on them. its no where near as good as a "real circuit" granted, but then again cadwell is 169 per car and one driver and 30 quid for an extra driver!

Will hopefully pop along tomorrow sometime to have a quick watch/ride?

well just got back. bit of a dissapointment to be honest. one of the co-owners of der panza couldnt make it in the end so that was a bummer. we had the whole track for the golf and my mx5 which was pretty cool although its always nice to have something to chase!
it all started pretty well. the golf was running sweet and the mazda felt quite secure on track.
swapping from golf to mazda was a bit strange and i kept taking some odd lines in the golf expecting the back end to break away.
c8dhc(forum member) turned up and i took him out for a couple of laps but i really wasnt on it so i let my mate take him out. sadly he lost it on one of the bends and drove sideways up an embankment ripping off the fuel pump in the process. he sends his apologies to dan. the truith is he's usually a really well composed driver but these things happen.
couldnt locate a new pump so spent the rest of the day going sideways in the mx5. i'll get some pics up soon.

pics. der panza on a charge with c8cdh(dan), moments before his life flashed in his eyes!

the bank my mate went up, nearly rolling. you can see his tyre mark. it was about a metre tall and at a 45 degree angle. glad i wasnt in the car!

Sounds like you had a good day despite the mishap up the hill. Glad no-one was hurt.
Judging by the first picture it looks like he was giving it some!!
Cheers

Yeah he has 2 speeds-stop and go
-
I wondered if you had any pics of 'the bank' as I never got to go back and have a look.
I have warned the subaru guys to go steady up that end tomorrow as that bend is getting it bit rough/pot-holey!

Great day at Blyton.
Rained in the afternoon (which was interesting on those cut slicks!)
Had a few games of cat and mouse with a mk1 running 16v lump:

Nice flaps!
Seeing those pics is enough to kick me back off here and into the workshop right now to continue getting mine fit
