Title: Mk3 Outside Plastic Door Trim
Post by: adamrob69 on 11 March 2008, 09:28
Im looking for the plastic trims that go over the doors, but i want the ones with the thin red line through the length of the trim, preferably without it saying GTI and for a 5 door. Iv been looking on the net and carnt even find a picture of them.
Any ideas where i might find them?

Thanks

Get them, then add the red pin stripe

Go to the parts for sale thread section and have a look for a 5 door mk3 breaking.

You're after the Anniversary trim dude. Not too common, so as Mikester says, get standard GTi ones & add the red line yourself?

Yeah.  As above mate.

Im thinking on doing the same with my ones.

Get 6mm red tape for it.  Make sure you clean the trim first though with vinegar or something.

Yeah, if youve been using back to black its like a silicon coting. So use something liek vinegar, or just a good rub with a sponge to clean it off. Think halfords do a small pin strip for a few pounds.

Agreed red stripe on side its abit overkill!

And as bradley said the only side strip that can accomodate a stripe is the GTI ones which gave the GTI badge on

Yeah, done some bodywork to it so far, color coded grill and sprayed badges black. My first attempt at that sort thing. Grill finish is ok but not great as i didn't take time over it or sand it down properly. But just got a gti spoiler, starting sanding it down today. This time it will be a professional finish  !!! It just good fun ...

yeh thats the first bit of spraying iv done, but i use to have a polo so i practised on the grill i took off that before i let my self loose on the golf! im considering a spoiler, it would be a driver spoiler though. Im trying to keep the car away from the GTI trims as i dont want it to be something it isnt!
