Title: Recaro bolster fooked
Post by: mk4Martin on 10 March 2008, 21:05
My worst nightmare has happened.
no matter how hard i crept in to my car climbing over the bolster to avoid damaging it the inevitable has occurd. Its now limp and saggy or fooked.

can these be repaired ?
or ordered from the stealers ?

has anybody had problems with the bolsters on their Recaro's seats on mk4 .

They seem like good quality seats to me. Mine are still in great shape even after 7 years  :undecided:

i think you have to get a new seat, which you can get from anywhere, scrapyard, stealer, ebay etc, just take the covers of yours and replace the ones on the one you get.

Doubt the side air bags would be very effective if you did

Mine are 9 years old, the bolsters are perfect, but the drivers seat has come away a bit on the stitching, someone did a quick job of it when I bought it so I didn't notice :(

the only problem with this, is if you've got a 3 door as the handle to move the seat forward will be on the wrong side

the foam is available from the stealers, I'll try and find out the number for you

You can't just replace the side bolster either, the whole bottom is one piece of foam

I think it was around £45 + VAT for it

I need to do mine in the summer, its only covered 52k but I think the constant getting in and out of short journeys has killed it, I can feel the frame through the fabric now
