Hi, does any one know if a vr6 rear spoiler will fit on any mk3 golfs? are they a standard size? Thanks Chloe
-
yeah . they're all interchangable.
-
Thankyou!

They are although only the GTi & VR6 have the correct rear glass with the holes for the mounting screws.
For smaller engined models you'd have to either swap the glass or just use a high adhesive silicone like Sikaflex.
If you havn't already got one I've got one for sale too!
PM me if you're after one!

what he said^^^^..... either bond (and you'll need to remove the bolts first tho.. simple hacksaw will sort them) or go for a driver spolier which are glued..not bolted
-
Thanks for the replys, its actually for a 1.4 so i think il have a problem with getting on , might look bit dodgy with glue. Do you think it would be best to leave it off??
eightyeightmph is yours a bolt on or glue? how much would you want all together with postage? :nerd:
-
Best way to put gti spoiler on 1.4? I want to use glue, easier than getting new glass with bolt holes; but which glue is best to use? I heard that araldite cracks the glass ... glue suggestions ...
-
got a gen vr6 spoiler if anyone wants one - have glass and tailgate too!
-
how much for it all including postage or are you looking for collection only?
-
dont mind posting it tbh, just make me an offer, you would need to either cut the bolts and bond or get some glass with the holes in

Sikaflex dude, use that & leave over night, clamped in place if you can. Won't come off!

No different to the smaller engined models, remove the bolt threads & glue in place with Sikaflex or similar.
Would sell it for £15 posted.

Couldn't find "Sikaflex" today!?! It is like a special item? I found some stuff in DIY stores; No more nails, sealant bonding. Is there any other bonds you can get from DIY store (Homebase/B&Q) that are pretty much the same as Sikaflex? You can get it one ebay for like £10 delivered.
Cheers all,
LL ;)

ive just been in halfords and bought a pack of heavy duty velcro pads, they are little 2p sized velcro pads that are self adhesive and are designed to hold up to 4kg!! they are also waterproof.
im gunna use them to stick my spoiler on, and then i can take it off wenever im in the mood for the smooth look
-
Buy it from here, you should have it by weekend so you can put it on then..

why wouldnt it sit right , as long as you put it on straight it will be straight, and why do you think it wouldnt last???,, if the velcro is designed to holf 4kg and is waterproof
-
For one it will have a gap all around the edges because of the thickness of the velcro which will look
It may hold a ceratin weight and handle getting a bit wet but dont think its designed to withstand our constantly sh!te british weather and winds of 70+ mph when your drivin!

yer u deffo got a good point there

I notice that sikaflex is made for yachts, marine use, etc. Well, being from plymouth there are sh!t loads of marine stores where I live, so I can just go buy it from the store. Guy on ebay is based in Plymouth, so i'll pick it up from him.
cheers for the advice.
LL ;)
btw - i guess it was sikaflex that was already on the spoiler? It had some string running through it and was a black gooey, elastic material, that is a b***ard to get off!
