Hi there,
I have a problem with my wipers... luckily in this weather they've not stopped working - in fact it's quite the opposite
When I flick the stalk up the wipers come on and when I flick it back down, they don't turn off! They stay on until I switch the engine off and stay off until I flick the stalk again !
They were working perfectly well (apart from only having one speed  ) until I was on the A1 yesterday afternoon, when I went to clean my screen and had to pull over and turn the engine off
Could it be the motor? I have a 1988 Mk1 golf convertible.

Sounds like you have a dodgy stalk or a relay problem. Best bet is to get the stalk replaced first and see if it cures it.
-
yeah, check the relay or stalks, i'd think the relay is cheaper and easier to replace as a first option.. but i may well be wrong!
Also check this thread.. there may be others of use, if you search using advanced search and searching just in the mk1 section. See how other people have solved siminlar problems. As you'll be fixing it just the same as people who's wipers haven't worked!

since its a late cabby a mk2 motor should fit straight on, and is a nice upgrade. when you steal the motor from the MK2 chop a length of loom from the car as well, crimp spades on the ends then match them up to the wire colours on the MK1 plug :)

Or go to e-bay and look for a shop called not escorts as they sell a Mk2 motor with the loom bits already cut for you...£25 plus delivery iirc

The guy who runs Not Escorts on ebay is a regular on here, but I've forgotten his username. :embarassed:
....just remembered it, its robiwill, pm him and he might be able to sort you out. :afro:
