Title: unsteady idle

hello everyone.
just replaced the battery on my mk4, as soon as the revs went back to idle speed (850), the idle is now revving upto 900 and back to 850 constantly, it was ok before the battery change.
any help most appreciated.

I've had the same problem with my Mk3 8v, from reading the threads the main suggestion seems to be to leave your ignition on for 30 seconds to reset the ECU.  If you disconnect the battery again for a few minutes then try the above, it may work.  Well, it did for me!
