Title: MK4 GTI Cup holder replacement help!
Post by: rhys1927 on 09 March 2008, 19:04
Hi,

Can someone tell me if its easy to change the front cup holder in a mk4 gti T please.

One of the cup rings has snapped off and I am going to get one off to ebay to replace it. Its the earlier model (circular cup rings).

What equipment will I need to actually pull out the old one and insert the new?

Cheers

Rhys

a flat head screwdriver

open the flap with the cup holder still pushed in; on either side are two tabs which need to be pushed in and then you can slide the whole unit out.

then replace with a new unit - good opportunity to replace with the newer version:

Good call, I'll probably replace my cup holders too as they're quite dirty, and one of them is broken!

Thanks Rhyso, much appreciated.

Will the later cup holder automatically fit into the earlier models slot in the dashboard then?

Cheers
